Adaptability

Naturalists and anthropologists are becoming more honest and brave to admit there are many elements of their investigations that are anomalies in the Evolutionary Theory. In bygone years it was not popular among many scientists to point out any contradictory pieces of evidence. But, many became so obsessed each with proving his own pet theory that the most blind followers had the admit their leaders were not completely objective scientists, but mortal men with personal prejudices and ambitions. A recent scientist of Arctic Nature Studies points out that the very phenomenon of adaptability is a "mystery" At last they have to admit it. Scientists who are believers that of course there is adaptability of species in nature. Animals in cold regions develop warm fur. The Polar Bear who must swim in arctic waters has fur made of hairs with air cells, aiding not only the insulating properties in waters which can freeze a man to death in minutes, but also helps the bear in swimming. The polar bears have white fur which blends into snowy background for protection, in other limes have brown coats which blend into a wooded region.

A pseudo-scientist will say, see that is another evidence of Evolutionary Theory. But real scientists are often now pointing out it does no such thing. That it is a marvelous mystery how these creatures can adapt, and why the steps of difference seem complete for a limited distance and then there is a gap and larger change which can better be explained by some Great Design, or presence of a Great Designer, than any mere chance.

A scientist points out he sees a relation between biochemistry and Heisenberg's law of uncertainty, that there are definite limits to what the scientific investigator can uncover and understand. There is a proven Law of Limitations beyond which the mere scientist cannot reach. These scientists may not mention the word of God, but they go all around pointing Him out without calling Him by Name. Perhaps some of them are timid of their more dogmatic prejudiced colleagues. But one is reminded that Jesus did not boast of Himself as being the only begotten Son of God, and Divine. He wanted His teachings, His life, works, and ministry to testify for Him.

Christians who are really scientific are not afraid of scientific studies and investigations. Truth is truth. We only insist that the scientific community be honest and unprejudiced, as ready to point out the Creative steps as well as the progressive but limited evolution.

We Christians can learn to recognize that much of what is called Evolutionary Theory is but the adaptability of species and that throughout all forms of nature there are Marvelous Mysteries completely beyond the grasp of the human mind to explain or comprehend, that is evidence of The Great Designer, The Creator, God.

AN ESKIMO FAMILY family were hunting and fishing on a large ice floe far from their tribal camp. The floe suddenly parted dropping their tent, kayak, tools and hunting gear into the sea, leaving them with nothing but their lives and bare hands. They caught a small animal or fish someway, used its bones and entrails to catch a larger one, and then up to being able to catch several seals, sewing them together to form a usable kayak, using sinews or thread, and appropriate bones for awl or needle. After considerable time they gained the shore, adapted the kayak into a sled with runners and headed from home base when they met a scientist to whom they apologized with much laughter as a joke on themselves, for the poor equipment and kayak-sled. But the scientist was awed. Stunned by their resourcefulness and his own inability to fit such capabilities into his already formed theories. It was generally thought the Eskimos were a brutish stupid race, and only long evolution could produce modern mechanical inventiveness. His discovery that the same marvelous intellectual resourcefulness was there all the time waiting for the necessity. He admitted there is much Mystery in nature beyond the scientist's power to explain or understand.

Archeological studies turn up that there are some old finds with relatively advanced tools, while later peoples showed evidence of regression. They ought at this point , to point out that the Bible's accounts of earl man as being fully intelligent might be accurate, and that various tribes had regressed into savage animal-like life styles after falling into sin and idolatry, even as Cain was driven away from the more godly of the other patriarchs.
