Eve and the Creation
EVE AND THE CREATION One sees by Genesis story that God made the simple forms of life such as
the fish of the sea before He went on to the more complex forms. Then God
designed Man as His masterpiece, making him in His own image. If we agree thus
far in the order in which God developed His various creatures, going from the
simple to the more complex or higher forms of life, does it not follow then,
that Woman, being created still later, was a still more complex and advanced
form of life. I guess most men, though hesitating about admitting their being
more advanced, would readily concede they are more complex. Women tend to be more spiritual, men more material and the spiritual is
surely of more importance than the material. Lest anyone read too much into this hastily, we keep in mind that God put
some checks and balances on the situation. There is a degree of spirituality
that is beautiful and right when a woman is treating with her own heart and
life, but tends to be impractical and wrong if she should make rules
controlling others. Thus the Bible shows a good woman should be more alone
with God, mystical, and spiritual, but not let her tendency to pride tempt her
into desiring or accepting official authority and leadership in the Church.
The spiritual influence and exhortations are too priceless to dilute or lose
them by her being engaged in mere leadership of organizations. In proportion
as waves of emotional glory are showered upon leaders, men or women, their true
spirituality declines. Paul said, repeating it several times, that he also had
talent and power in the flesh that would attract men, but he would NOT use it,
lest the power of God be made of LESSER account or effect. God has made clear in the Bible, His own methods and programs of developing
His plans over long periods of time, allowing the Dispensation of the Law run
its course, developing and declining, before He sent His own /son to introduce
the more perfect Dispensation of Love and Grace. This modus operandi is in
accord with the laws of science, though not with all its mere unproved
theories. However, if some points of science SEEM to be at variance, it should
not at all be a source of worry to a believer. The spiritual messages of the
Bible are so infinitely divine, good, holy and right, we can rest on its Word
with total assurance that it is the Word of God and let some minor scientific
lie bypassed. Some believers have expressed as a problem the biblical dates when much
longer time spans for man by scientific reckonings. Let us consider this--
There was probably a very long period of development of the hominids, man-like,
but necessarily human. Science long ago was forced to admit that man did NOT
come directly from monkeys, but developed along its own divergent line.
Science has also had to admit that the gap from animal to human is almost
infinite. The animal is moved by his instincts, while the man with reasoning
powers, emotions, morality and free will to make decisions and choose, is
almost divine. God has truly made man in His own image when He endowed them
with those un-bestial attributes. Science does not know and the Bible does not indicate just WHEN God
breathed the divine endowment into the creature who may have looked much like
man but previously did not have any. Thus, I have no problem on that score. That and many other details are not
known. Scientific theories come and go, accepted as science for a time and
disproved later. But the Word of God is sure and certain and our Savior and
Master a Rock that if firm and eternal. |
