"God is still working in Guatemala, praise..."

Orland Wolfram

(November)

Dear Christian Friend,

God is still working in Guatemala, praise the Lord! An evangelist who preaches in many countries said recently that in only one other place has he seen the power of God so manifest. He said in Korea there were bigger crowds and larger congregations, but that of course, the population of the country was many times greater than Guatemala. He said there was one especial church congregation in Korea where the great basic principle was dependence on Prayer; not just preaching, not social activities, but prayer centers and a large group of people in prayer 24 hours a day. There have been some special meetings here to foment and inspire similar prayer movements as well as the usual revival campaigns Guatemala has.

We thank the Lord for all the sincere activities in His Name and for a small part in them, and we thank you for your faithful prayers, love and support.

Besides the big campaigns results, the Lord has given me some special blessings of seeing old acquaintances come to the Lord.

Years ago I went into a place fro a piano part that had been broken, saying, "I was not sure I would find such a part in Guatemala, that most of the so called tuners were more or less tune butchers, but I heard that there was one REAL master rebuilder."

He was pleased and led me into the shop to see a Steinway, very old, but he had rebuilt all the moving parts beautifully. As I played I expressed my admiration for his good work, and as I played he became more well, rapturous, in fact all his family came from various parts of the house to listen in. We held each other in silent admiration. One cannot play that way on just anything.

I used the opportunity to talk to the assembled family of the Bible and Salvation, but that was, apparently, not so well received. While I "sow by all waters" as the Bible says, preach to all kinds of situations, still there is a special empathy and prayer for warm and friendly and talented souls.

Lately I have been running into members of that family, sons, wives, daughters and grandchildren, meeting them in meetings, not just as pew fillers, but witnessing, influential, on fire for the Lord.

A similar experience with a family who was a neighbor for a while years ago. Likewise influential in the community and respectful to me always, but not enthusiastic about my talking of the Gospel. But here the other day they came in enthusiastic to say they had had an awakening. And whom had the Lord used? One of the members of the piano family, who was now holding Bible study sessions himself and drawing many of the more influential of his neighborhood.

So we rejoice, and write to share the joy with you, thankful for your prayers.

The Bible further says, not only sow by all waters, but often Sowing with tears, but later they return Rejoicing bringing their Sheaves with them.

Keep up your good faithful and united prayers for us, and for me personally.
