"We should sow by all waters, say the Scriptures..."

Orland Wolfram

(October)

Dear Christian Friend,

We should sow by all waters, say the Scriptures. Which means preach the Gospel to all kinds of people in all kinds of situations, even at times "sowing with tears" perhaps of frustration and impatience at times under persecution, but in due season if ye faint not ye shall come with rejoicing bearing the golden sheaves. You will see your Gospel and patience bearing fruit and be able to rejoice, and also see that the seed sown is bearing many manifold.

We had a neighbor that we invited to meetings, also his children, took them at times, not very interested, but, I thank the Lord he is not an enemy in any case.

Years have passed, we have moved to another zone. When a problem at City Hall made me call around to see who was an expert in that department with some influence who could represent us with several annoying problems, I heard that our old neighbor was the best in the business. He not only took care of the matters efficiently, but when I went to pay him his fee, he would not take a thing.

But that was still not the whole story. One of our faithful workers who is out preaching on the street every day reported several times that they were being bothered by strange preachers who just came to criticize, did not preach simple salvation for sinners, but various involuted doctrines, more criticizing others than any positive gospel.

In other years we used to be threatened by the Catholics and the drunks who claimed to be Catholics. On the radio-TV government station a priest has been threatening since the new administration, but they have not bothered our open air meetings, only some of the evangelical chapels in isolated mountain villages.

But lately we have been plagued by a bunch of cults of diverse cuts and slants, arguing until the meeting is almost broken up. But then more recently there appeared on the scene a brother who began coming every day to help and preach, but who when he saw the situation developed a technique. Allowing our brothers to continue preaching to the spiritually hungry, he would go over to where the cultists were, arguing ably and forcefully with them, and as the crowd grew move farther away from the gospel meeting and skillfully show to the listeners and curious, how to beat the haranguers at their own game. He was able and learned on both the Bible and the doctrines of the various cults. He soon had, every day, the crowd on his side, convinced.

Meanwhile our brethren were thanking the Lord for answer to prayer that they could preach salvation to the hungry without so much molestation. I went to investigate to see who was this angel of mercy and found lo and behold it was the same old neighbor. When I showed a bit of surprise he said Yes, he had begun to realize the the Lord was coming soon, that we all had better be really acting as if we meant it, and he realized he had before, been asleep pretty much. Now he spends only about half a day at his business, and the other out preaching or helping the preachers. Praise the Lord. God answers Prayer.

Thanks for your faithful prayers. There is a great revival tide in Guatemala, but also grave economic situations. Pray also for Mexico, and the American Indian.

Brother Orland
