"You may remember that in the story of..."
(Jan 1, 1983) Dear Christian Friend, You may remember that in the story of THE OTHER WISE MAN
the Fourth King from the Orient brought precious gems to give to the Babe who
was to be the King of Kings. But on the way he came across a man who had been
robbed and beaten. Grand dilemma. Should he take a jewel that had already
been promised to Jesus and use it to save the life of this poor unfortunate?
He did that though was unsure but what he might be losing God's blessing. And
so it went with he other precious gems, he used them to help people in some
great need, always worried, asking God's forgiveness. But at the last there came a heavenly being or vision that said, quoting
that passage from the Scriptures, "I was an hungered and ye fed me, naked and
ye clothed me, ill and ye ministered unto me...For inasmuch as ye have done it
unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." So along with the regular Gospel work, open air meetings and the like, we
have been occupied in organizing the projects to feed the poor. There has been
more hardships than in other years, and in Guatemala you may imagine what
conditions are like for some. So the Mission has been a warehouse for flour,
beans and such essentials, so that each of the evangelists that come in for
tracts, Bibles and their financial support, may also load up with food
essentials. Each area, each church, has a few families or widows and children
that are poorer and harder hit that the general average, though all might be
considered poor. We are engaged in distributing two kinds of bread, The Bread of Life in
Biblical literature and Gospel preaching, and also plain bread, though not so
plain as we handle only whole wheat bread and whole wheat flour along with
instruction on the importance of such nutritious eating, rather than white
bread from which the minerals and vitamins have been have been taken out, to be
sold separately perhaps to the cows and chickens. Last summer the donations coming in were smaller than usual. But you have
responded generously this season. I pray God's richest blessings and spiritual
rewards upon you, for the Gospel work, for the poor children, and love
offerings to me personally. Sincere gratitude. Brother Orland Orland Wolfram |
