"By this shall all men know that ye..."

Orland Wolfram

(July 1983)

Dear Christian Friend,

"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples: That ye love one another."

Here is another chapter unfolding the wonderful way God is working miracles in these parts. I share it with you that you too may rejoice hearing how God has answered your prayers.

The same small group that was asking for special, prevailing prayer for Guatemala about two years ago, is now asking the Christians of Guatemala to unite in special prayer for El Salvador. They are also going to El Salvador to unite the believers there. They have said for some time there is a strong block in El Salvador. The devil seemed to have a tighter grip on that poor country than he had on Guatemala two years ago, but that nothing was too hard for God. All that was needed was still more fervent and united prayer.

Some days back, they went to El Salvador again having arranged a special meeting. This was not a campaign for all, but a meeting of the main leaders of several prominent denominations to have a time of prayer together. As the meeting progressed, more and more of the power of God was felt, melting the hearts and hardness of everyone present. Finally in the midst of the prayers and the tears, this situation began to be confessed: The most prominent radio programs of the Pentecostals and the Baptists had been spending considerable time and effort in attacking the others, showing in strong detail the errors, lacks, and misinterpretations of the others. Besides the radio programs, the prominent leaders of each group had also done the same to cement their congregations' desire against following and to warn them against cooperation with the other groups. To some extent the rank and file of believers didn't see much difference. They went to each others' special campaigns. Officially though, the groups were enemies.

It took a mighty heavenly thunderbolt to break open the leaders on this. Even as it did in the days of Saul on the road to Damascus. God worked just that way, and the greatest of miracles followed. It was greater than any physical healing, in the first cutting out, burning out, and cauterizing that cancer of denominational pride and sectarian doctrine. Then there was a melting of all on both sides. They confessed that pride and stubbornness. They confessed they had been fighting against a part of Christ's church, fighting against some of His own, instead of showing the all important love and understanding which would show they were actually led of and filled with the Spirit. Amid tears, hugging one another, and asking forgiveness of one another, they then pledged, the leaders on each side, that they would study how to help the other in any need or campaign from then on.

Then others within each group confessed that once that selfishness and church pride was begun, they fought a great deal amongst themselves also. They often argued on all kinds of hairsplitting doctrines, instead of just exalting Christ and leaving the details to the Spirit to unfold and teach His children. Some leaders of other independent groups of Holiness people, said they were just as guilty. Then the Spirit of love came, and unity was complete. All felt that the greatest block to victory had been overcome, that the greatest tool of the devil had been broken, and from then on, all could have a oneness of spirit in seeking the power of the Lord to come and heal their land. God will work miracles when His people fulfill His will.

Yours in Him,

Orland Wolfram
