"Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for it." --Ephesians 5:25
Dr. C. S. Lovett, who wrote
much on personal soul-winning in the early years of his Christian life,
did not then emphasize church membership. Later, after some years of experience
and observation, he made this statement: "Of all the souls that were won
to Christ, only those who were brought into the local church became
steadfast and productive for the Lord."
When a new convert joins the local church, he commits himself to such spiritual activities as faithful attendance to the means of grace. He promises to endeavor in every way to glorify God by a holy service, and, abstaining from all evil, to seek earnestly to perfect holiness of heart and life in the fear of the Lord. All of this helps us to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior. If you know Christ as your personal savior and are not a member of the local church, please call 303-839-1500 for more information. WHAT THOMAS MISSED BY BEING ABSENT In John 20:19, we read about
the disciples being assembled together in the evening on the first day
that our Lord Jesus rose from the dead.
Hebrews 10:25: "Let us not
give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us
encourage one another -- and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
The material in this brochure was prepared by Rev. John Miller, Senior Pastor, Cottonwood Lakes Church of the Nazarene, Thornton, Colorado, to whom we offer our sincere thanks. |
